What does it mean to be saved?

Romans 10:9-13 declares “ that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For with the heart one believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11For the Scripture says, whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame. 12For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved . "

You can’t just say you are saved when you have not at anytime believed in our Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God and believe that God raised Him from the dead and also confessed with your mouth that He is your Lord and Savior just as the Bible says. We need to understand that by just saying this from our head, we are not yet saved but still dead in sin, for it will do nothing until we believe in our heart because with the heart man believes unto righteousness. Please know that true repentance from sin comes from the heart. . It is not a physical process. Rather, it is a Spiritual process. When you are saved, you get convicted of sin and your old ways of life and you come into a new light in God leaving all your old ways and all works of the flesh behind. The walk with our Lord and Savior, Lord Jesus, is a daily walk.

What qualifies you to be saved?

We are only qualified by our Lord, Jesus Christ by His Grace. The Bible says we are saved by grace through faith not of ourselves, for it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. (Eph 2:8-9, Titus 2:11-13). We are saved by His grace. Lord Jesus is the only one that qualifies us for salvation but we have to be willing. This is VERY IMPORTANT and HAS NEED FOR EMPHASIS. WE MUST BE WILLING BY CHOICE. God has given man a free will and a conscience that enables him to know good from evil. God’s will is that none should perish but all should come unto repentance. God did not create anyone that they may choose perdition and end in the Lake of Fire. He has predestined us all to be adopted Sons unto him through our Lord Jesus Christ (Eph 1:5) even though all will not heed. Please let everyone remember the parable of King’s son and read it. It is a picture of Salvation – Matt 22:2-14. This parable also shows to us all that as believers and born again Christians, we can still be cast out and not inherit the kingdom of God in its TANGIBLE FORM and if we go back to sin again and begin to live like the world in unrighteousness.

The Bible teaches that our righteousness is like filthy rags before God so we can’t be saved by our righteousness or our works (Isaiah 64:6). Paul said if righteousness comes by doing what is morally right then Christ died in vain (Gal 2:21). Righteousness comes through Lord Jesus Christ alone. God imputes righteousness to us in Christ. Works of righteousness are only important after one is saved in Christ. Not before. This is because there is no righteousness without Christ. Acts 4:12 also declared that there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Lord Jesus is the only way. He is the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6).

Also we are not saved by working in church or doing God’s work; it’s good to work in church but it is better after you have given your life to Christ. This is because being saved is the foundation on which we build all our works of righteousness like working in church, giving, helping others and so on. Any good works done outside of Christ will have no heavenly reward. It will only have an earthly reward. The Holy Spirit once told us these words – “Iwill not accept Sacrifice in the place of Sonship”. The desire of our Lord Jesus Christ is that we all become His children and live with Him eternally. We implore anyone that has not received our Lord Jesus as his Lord and Savior to please do so. For TIME IS VERY SHORT. Lord Jesus, I repent of my sins. I confess you with my mouth that you are my Lord, the Son of God, who died on the cross for my sins and I believe God has raised you from the dead. I ask for the forgiveness of my sins today. Forgive me and make me whole. I forsake my old ways today and I purpose in my heart to live unto you according to your Word from henceforth. Help me Lord Jesus to delight in your Word as bread to my soul that my ways may be perfect before thee. I receive Your Holy Spirit of truth by faith today as my helper to help me please you in all things from henceforth. Thank you Father God for sending your only Son to die for my sin and thank you Lord Jesus for saving me. In Jesus name I pray. (Amen)

How do you know you are saved?

You know you are saved by FAITH. It’s a spiritual transformation. Nothing is going to happen to you physically. You won’t grow taller or have any bodily change but immediately you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, your spirit man changes to be like Him in nature, knowing and doing what is right and free of sin. Every man on earth is born into this world spiritually dead. He must confess Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at some time in his life or he will remain dead in spirit. If he dies physically in this world in this state, he will remain forever spiritually dead and separated from God in hell (John 3:16-21, John 3:36, Rev 22:11).

Gal 4:4-5 declares that “ But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons .” Therefore we have the Spirit of the Son in us after we are saved. Our Lord Jesus is the author of salvation, but there is a clause... “To all who obey”. We still need to yield our will to obey Him. Heb 5:9 states that “ And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him . ” 1 John 5:12-13 states that “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.”

All these scriptures above were written for us to know we are saved by accepting Christ as our Lord and Savior. John 14:6 says that Jesus is the way and the only way. I Tim 2:5 corroborate this declaration. We beseech you now that you are saved to forward this text to people you may know out there in the world that are still wallowing in sin and unrighteousness by not accepting our Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Many of these people need YOU to share the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ with them so they also may be saved. Don’t be afraid to preach and share our Lord Jesus with your friends and relatives and unbelieving colleagues at work. Don’t be mindful of what people will think of you by declaring Christ. They persecuted our Lord himself, so it’s a SURETY that some of them will persecute us also. Our joy is in Matt 5:10-12, for GREAT is our reward is Heaven. Please do not love the world that you cannot share the Gospel with them because you are mindful of their thoughts and impressions. Our Lord Jesus is counting on YOU today that you will declare what you have heard. THAT knowing the author of Salvation, our Lord Jesus, is the only way to the Father and that our Father does not take pleasure in the afflictions and death of the wicked but that they should turn from their evil ways to him and LIVE.

How to remain saved

 The purpose of this writing is to provoke you to guard your salvation with great jealousy. Have you ever wondered why Apostle Paul wrote in his letters to the DISCIPLES at Ephesus in Eph 6:17 that they should wear the helmet of Salvation? In his writing, he was exhorting them to put on the whole armor of God and one of the armor is the helmet of salvation. Why would Apostle Paul be telling ALREADY SAVED people to wear the HELMET OF SALVATION which they were supposed to be already wearing? This letter was written to BELIEVERS, not unbelievers. That suggests to us that BEING SAVED DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU ARE WEARING THE HELMET OF SALVATION. Rather it suggests that wearing the helmet of salvation is an action to be done after one has been saved. We believe it is time for you to examine yourself whether you are LIVING SAVED or conforming to the ways of the world. Our Lord Jesus Christ demands FULL OBEDIENCE to His Word. When you are genuinely saved you obey God the Father in all things. This is by the help of the Holy Spirit. You seek after Him, you want to know Him more each day, YOU ARE AFRAID TO SIN, and you put him first in everything you do. The Bible says we should work out our own salvation with fear and trembling (Phil 2:12). This is one thing Christians do not do. They believe once they have accepted Lord Jesus as their Lord and Savior that’s the end, but in the real sense THAT IS THE BEGINNING OF THE WORK AND WALK. Our Lord Jesus Himself clearly declared in Matt 7:21-22 that “ many will say to Him (Christ) in that day that they have done great and wonderful things in His name But He will say unto them “Get out of my sight you workers of iniquity ”. This means they are condemned to the Lake of fire even Christians that were once saved. Please do not be deceived by doctrines of men! The Word of God is the standard and is above any man or preacher. One can still go into perdition in Hell and eventually Lake of Fire even after he has been saved sometime before. The Bible clearly states in Heb 12:14 that without HOLINESS, no man shall see the Lord. NO MAN! Whoever he is and no matter what he has done for the Lord in the past. Even Moses, after all his labor of love and walk with the God of Abraham did not enter the promise land because of disobedience to the Lord. The Lord told him clearly that he will show him the land but he will not enter. If Moses, the receiver of the Law of God, who himself was honored to EAT WITH THE LORD GOD on the mountain, was disqualified from entering the promise land though was saved and is in Heaven as we speak, then why can’t any Christian be disqualified because of sin and unrighteousness?

The Word of God says that without faith it is impossible to please God (Heb 11:4) and also faith without works is dead (James 2:26). So after you are saved the first thing you should do is to begin to grow in the knowledge and revelation of the Word of Truth, the Bible. How do you grow? The Bible says in 1 Peter 2:2-3 that “ as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, 3if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious .” If you have actually tasted the grace of God that led to your salvation, what you should do next after your salvation is to desire to grow by taking the milk (word) DAILY and as often as possible. After a child is born, to keep the child growing they need to feed the child and feed him well. If not, he will be malnourished and will not grow properly. He may even develop some illness and will be so prone to sickness and diseases because of lack of a balanced diet. The same way when we give our life to Christ, we are like new born babies, we should desire to know God, to read about Him, and study Him because that’s the only way we can grow spiritually just like that baby. If we don’t study our Bible and read it, and pray, we will definitely not grow as we should and when we are not growing, we are backsliding (retarding) because we are not following the instruction we need to live, which is eating the food of the word of God.

Some people say: I’m born again but I still struggle with sin and immorality, all kind of sexual sins, stealing, abuse, pornography, lying and all kinds of lusts of the flesh. For those, please read Gal 5:17-26 which says “For the flesh lusts against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. ”

So if you still see these fruits in you, then you still have a great work to do on yourself because these are all the works of the flesh. But if you are truly living saved, you should have the fruit of the spirit which are as in Gal 5:22. It declares: “ But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another ”. When you are saved, these are the fruits you should manifest. We should encourage one another to bring forth the fruit of the spirit. These are the good works that the Lord wants to see in our lives. We should show forth love, bless those who curse us, and pray for those who spitefully use us or mistreat us. Luke 6:28 states that we should be fruitful in every good work for this is pleasing to our Lord. Col 1:10 also declares: “ that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God ”.

We believe the reason why people struggle so much with sin is because they don’t have the power of God that is available to them, and it’s only available through the Word and the Holy Spirit. The Bible says in Romans 10:17 that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. EVERY BELIEVER with no exception MUST take in the Word of God DAILY and AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE so he can stuff himself with the Word and make the Word abide in him daily. This is the secret to living above Sin and to be HOLY and SPOTLESS till the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This is stated clearly in I John 3:9-10. PLEASE READ IT. It is improper for a believer that believes he is going to hear the trumpet sound and go with Christ on that great day to still be wallowing and struggling with sin. If there is anyone among you, let him go on his knees and repent of all his sins and ask the Lord for forgiveness. Then let him take up the Word of our Lord and study it day and night and live and walk by it by the help of the Holy Spirit. This way, the shackles of sin are broken daily. We can also see an example from our Savior Lord Jesus, when he was tempted of the devil. He didn’t just talk back to the devil but he replied him with the word of God because the word is spirit and it is the defense we have if we use it by faith.

In conclusion, the Lord has given us faith to be able to go through what ever comes our way, whether sin, temptation, trials or tribulations. Our faith is not to help us to escape all these but to be able to go through it. Eph 6:16 talked about the shield of faith to be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. The Bible did not say there won’t be fiery dart of the wicked one but it says you have the shield of faith to quench all the roaring of the evil one. This FAITH is FAITH in the Word of God that God will do what He has said. He promised us all that He will make a way of escape for us in all our temptations. These ways are revealed in His Word. Therefore we must study His WORD and fellowship with Him to know and understand His ways. Now that you know these things, do them in the name of the Lord Jesus bringing glory to the Father in Him.
