BABYLON , THE GREAT: WHY IT IS IRAQ AND NOT ROME OR AMERICA OR ANY OTHER PLACE?

Grace unto you and peace from God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. As we have written to you by the leading of the Holy Spirit most recently concerning Babylon, we also write today, proving to you again by the word of the Lord that Babylon, which will be shortly rebuilt to be destroyed in one hour by the Lord in the days of the Great Tribulation, is in the country of Iraq. Not America, Rome, or any other place on the earth. According to the Word of the Lord alone, it is Iraq for the following reasons.

1 . Literal Babylon is definitely the subject of Rev 16:17-21 and 18:1-24. This we have written to you most recently as referenced in the link above.

2 . The fact that the great whore of Rev 17:5 was called Mystery Babylon proves a connection with literal Babylon, for there is only one Babylon mentioned in all Scriptures; the Babylon of Nebuchadnezzar in Iraq.

3 . Literal Babylon is the site of the first great rebellion against God after the flood of Noah (Gen 11), and it will be the site of the last great rebellion (Rev 14:8, 16:17-21, 18:1-24). This we also wrote to you recently.

4 . Literal Babylon of the past is always associated with demon religions and idolatry in Scripture (Isa 21:9, 47:9-10, Rev 18:2-3, 23).

5 . Many prophecies concerning Babylon in both Old and New Testaments are yet unfulfilled to this day (Isa 13:1-22, 14:1-27, 43:14, 47:1-15, 48:20, Jer 50-51, Zech 5:5-11, Rev 14:8, 16:17-21, 18:1-24). If these prophecies do not come to pass, would that not mean that the Word of God be a lie? Shall the Word of God be a lie? GOD FORBID. So then, these prophecies concerning Babylon shall also come to pass. On the other hand, the cities of Rome and America are not once literally mentioned in any prophecy (past, present, or future) in all Scriptures, whether they are fulfilled or unfulfilled. There are prophecies concerning the Roman Empire but not Rome, the city itself. Romeas a city has no prophecy concerning it. None. Contrarily, Babylon is mentioned many times in prophecy.

6 . NEVER has it been necessary to re-identify any city named in prophecy. Prophecies concerning Sodom, Gomorrah, Nineveh, Tyre, Sidon, and others have been fulfilled regarding the literal cities known by the names referred to in the various passages. Why then should Babylon be an exception?

7 . Babylon is the only city of the last days that will be the headquarters of every demon and unclean spirit (Rev 18:2).

8 . Babylon is the only city literally mentioned by name making all nations drunk with the wine of her fornication (Rev 18:3). The same words are used of Mystery Babylon (Rev 17:2) proving that these two Babylons ( Babylon the city and Mystery Babylon) must be connected in some way.

9. Babylon is the only city mentioned to be the center of sorceries, enchantments, etc. ( Rev 18:23, Isa 47:9-10, 12-13). Rome could not take Babylon’s place in this.

9 . Babylon is the only city literally mentioned by name and singled out as the object of God’s wrath and plagues ( Rev 16:19, 18:4, 6). If Rome or America was to be the great city fulfilling such prophecy, it surely would have been mentioned instead of Babylon, for Rome was already well known at the time Apostle John wrote the book of Revelation. Even if America did not exist at that time, God would have mentioned it. Will God not know that America will come to be a nation someday in the future? The very absence of the name Rome or America is no mere accident. God never leaves us in doubt as to the true meaning of His revelations of events to come. God’s words are very clear and even the unlearned can understand it if they set their hearts to do so. Would God not be unjust to send unlearned men to hell if they do not do His will because they do not understand it? Because only the learned could understand? God is just. So all men can understand God’s words and do them by the help of the Holy Spirit. That America and Rome are not mentioned proves that these prophecies do not concern them.

10 . Babylon is the only city mentioned by name which is to be judged in the last days for martyrdoms ( Rev 18:24). Since both literal and mystery Babylons martyr saints, there must exist some link between them.

All these facts from the Scriptures suggest the idea that one Babylon of Rev 18, a literal city, is the headquarters of the other, Mystery Babylon, a religious system. Concerning this, we shall write to you in the days to come if our Lord tarries. One thing seems certain. Mystery Babylon, concerning which we shall write to you shortly, and literal Babylon are two aspects of the same city. They will both fulfill prophecies in the time of the end, just before the second coming of Christ. It shall be after the rapture of the church. Mystery Babylon is a religious system with headquarters in literal Babylon, which is Iraq. It will be the dominant religion in Iraq during the days of the Tribulation after the rapture of the church. It will fulfill Rev 17 until Antichrist comes to full power over the ten kings of Revised Rome in the middle of Daniel’s 70 th week. Then, Antichrist, who also is the future king of Babylon (Isa 14:4) and the Assyrian (Isa 10:20-27, 30:18-33, 31:4-32:20, Micah 5:3-15) will destroy this religious system and establish the beast worship (Rev 13:1-18, 14:8-11, 15:2-4, 16:2, 6, 17:12-17, 20:4-6). Now if any man hath an ear, let him hear.

We beseech you all to consider these words: And the Lord give thee understanding in this and in all things. Understand and know that many great evil shall befall the earth in the days to come. These shall be after the catching away. We as saints of God must therefore watch and pray always, that we may be accounted worthy to escape all these things and stand before our Lord Jesus Christ; that we may partake of the first resurrection. And you all flee from sin and every unrighteousness. Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. Pursue holiness unto the Lord and know that the Lord cometh shortly. Prepare, Watch, and Be Ready. Grace be to you all. Amen.
